i was working on that sebastian redesign that i posted a little while ago when i suddenly wondered if starkhaven—or even more specifically, the vael family—had some sort of family crest or symbol, like the amells.  searching the internet brought up almost nothing, so i went digging through the DAII game assets.

turns out there is a starkhaven crest.  and a whole bunch of others i’ve never seen before.  so i decided to take the raw files and do something useful with them.

these symbols were taken directly from the DAII game art assets folder.  most likely these are not all the symbols that show up in the game, but i don’t have access to the legacy and mark of the assassin DLC assets since those files are encrypted.  a number of these are also probably not official (canonically) either.  my guess is that some of them were concepts that later got changed/refined or just scrapped.  they’re still fairly interesting to look at though.

there are probably a number of symbols some of you may recognize (especially if you’re the diligent type to go shifting through the dragon age wiki or bioware’s blog).  i left them in there regardless, for those who may have not seen these before.

He grips the cold stone wall using every last bit of his own will to hold back the wrath of Justice. “Not here…we can’t…” It gets harder everyday as more and more innocents are taken, as more and more tranquil appear in the courtyard of The Gallows… His resolve to hold back weakens. Is it cowardice, or bravery to still cling to the hope that the world does not need to burn for it to change?

spicyshimmy: sofferenza: for a broody elf, fenris has interesting expressions fenris has some of the best facial animations and the widest variety of expressions in the game, and when you compare the deeply grooved snarl of his mouth and the knit of his dark brows when you first meet him in the shadows to the broad spectrum of blinks and stares and i see that you are ‘joking’ because you think you are ‘funny’ moments, the vulnerability he shows or even the twitch of a thief-quick smile… that’s hawke’s influence, drawing on something beneath the armor, coaxing it to light with all the inexorability of strong fereldan hands. and that’s fenris’s own doing, too, when he turns to face the proverbial tiger, as so much more than a cornered animal. how subtle and how brave—for someone who wears his deepest scars where everyone can see them.

cypheroftyr: hawkeward: “I’ve been fighting for years… Anders, there are many aches you can help me with, the question is will you?” He arched up and kissed Anders, tentatively. Anders’ mind went blank. Fenris was kissing him. A birthday gift for the lovely Syrenpan, courtesy of the also-lovely Cypheroftyr. Cypher sent me some RP logs, and this moment stuck out. :3 thank you so, so much for this Hawkeward!

mangokappu: i-it’s finally finished….!! ＼(*T▽T*)／ an 11x17” print! while making this, i’ve been tempted by the game and watching sailor moon (had ost playing almost all throughout) Hopefully my next posters… won’t be as ambitious. ah i hope there’ll be DA2 fans at otafest, and future cons too ; v ;
